Event Details

For more than 50 years, Sheridan Shore Sailing School has proudly offer ed students a chance to experience the thrill, challenge and exhilaration of sailing. Our courses help instill the skill of sailing and the character value of seamanship to juniors, high school students and adults of all ability levels. Classes are led by a staff including collegiate sailors and instructors certified by U.S. sailing. We feature a low student to instructor ratio. A variety of courses have been designed to match differing interests, abilities, age and style of sailing. The Sailing school uses the facilities of Sheridan Shore Yacht Club, which is located in Wilmette Harbor. The Sailing School is a 501c(3) not-for-profit organization. Our Equipment The School maintains a fleet of 30 boats, including sailboats and safety boats. We have a wide range of sailboats to suit a variety of needs. For sailors less than 110 lbs and beginners we have Prams & Optimists (Opti). The best way to introduce young children to sailing is with the Opti. Optis are simple to operate and provide plenty of opportunities to grow in skill and confidence. For older and more physically developed sailors, we have 420s; a two-person sloop that carries spinnaker and trapeze. We also have a J24, a 24-foot keelboat.
